My Big Fat Greek Catch Up

So I'm back.
AND with a fresh new logo! Sort of.

It's funny how things tend to happen when you're taking a break.
Ok, so not funny ha ha but like... uh... you know...

So after closing down for a break, and getting some councelling I've returned to this very small and possibly barely significant stage of mine to write up some more stuff... making sure I come up with more general content is of course priority one, and hopefully I've found a few more videos and sites to share in the meantime.

Let's start a month ago, where after work on October 15th I still hadn't learnt to catch the bus early enough and ended up waiting another hour. It's become quite regular actually.
Anyway the bus arrived, and the small group of passengers boarded and left the main station. After stopping at the first bus stop (in which more people got on), the bus driver didn't seem to pulling away from the curb as minutes slowly ticked by... 5, 10, 15, 20... after which he turned to the six of us and said something about the brakes, from what I could make out, over the sound of some Canadian Jazz Festival DVD playing on the screen at the front.
The bus made a U-turn barely missing a couple of cars and the raised island in the center of the street, and at the time we all thought we were just going to go back to the terminal to wait for another.
But we didn't - the bus kept driving until it came to an unlit parking lot-ish type reserve with all the empty buses. Now at this stage I was thinking this (try and say this in a movie trailer voice):

It was just going to be a simple ride home.
"Oh here it comes..."
But were the brakes really faulty?
"Kay, we're just going back to the depot..."
This Fall
"Oh god..."
Take the ride. of. your. life.
*scream*
Bus. Coming to a cinema near you. In 3D. On Ice. Rated R.

Or... a slightly more optimistic version:

(in an uplifting, explanatory, celebrity male voice)
We've tracked six people down, for a chance to win fifty thousand dollars.
The catch is, they don't know the game has started.
(slightly more dramatic)
Six contestants. One bus. One winner.
The stunts are real.
The danger is real.
The brakes are real.
Taken. An all new reality show from the people that brought you "Fear Factor" and "The Phone".
Someone's walking home tongiht.
Sundays at 8:30.

Looking back at that I see how bad Bus is as a horror movie title. Oh well...

Exams have come and gone and overall I'm generally pleased with how they went... surprised the hallway could concentrate with someone (next door) watching *ahem* videos intended for older audiences at such high volumes (and that's "volume" and both sound and quantity sense).

Enough about that.

These holidays, as well as finding a job (which I have), I've lined up a few projects for myself do to each fortnight leading up towards next semester. Not giving much away right now, but I'll let you know once each one reaches a suitable completion percentage.

Now that I'm on holiday there's bound to be a lower amount of interesting things to talk about... so for now I'm ending the post here. But I'd really like to know what sort of things I should put in the blog now... maybe finish that set of cartoons I was drawing? Hmm...

The News and That
Beatlemania strikes again... the entire catalog of Beatles songs has now been put up for download on iTunes. From today, users around the world can download their favourite songs, complete the collection, or start one of their own, with songs set at the new relases price of $2.39, or users can go for the "boxed set option", taking all the songs from all their albums, plus loads of extras for a one-off payment of (get this) $269.99! This comes as an interesting surprise to some users (ok, me...) since previously the owners of the Beatles' estates didn't approve of the songs being released online. So who knows, we could be seeing some Beatles singles re-entering the New Zealand singles charts sometime!

2 posts to go until #100!

The Mid-Week Website
The Password Meter - It's coming up to the end of Spring... finished the cleaning yet? Don't forget your computer either, get rid of any unwanted files and uninstall those programs you haven't used in a while. And while you're at it, why not change your passwords? Best to make sure it's a goodun though, none of this "qwerty" or "abc123" nonsense though. This site is a quick and easy tool for checking if your password is up to scratch and secure, or just an open door for a hacker. Click here.

Glad to be back, guys!

Wow, really? It was just the first picture I grabbed of Wikipedia Commons...

It's the best preserved temple in Greece, so it's not surprising it's on Wikipedia and that I visited it.
