So what is this new direction? And no, we're not talking about the group from Glee, no matter how much their cover music lands in my iTunes library... no, we're talking about what this new iteration of the blog is about.
But first, about me... I'm currently a University student living in New Zealand, and I'd have to admit I'm not the first to start a trend, I'm more of a person in the background commenting on the proverbial sheep (or lemmings, possibly?) running back and forth. But if I had to associate myself with a crowd, it'd be the technophiles.
"Geeks!" I hear you say. Uh, no.
So I'm still into Pokémon and probably spend more time in front of a screen than anything else, but I'm not a stereotypical junkie that has a high-end system and gets little exercise... in fact, most if not all of us aren't, but that's a discussion for a later time.
Where were we? Oh, the blog... right. So after 130 posts you'd think I'd have hit a few dozen followers by now, obviously that hasn't happened yet... but after going through each and every one of them, I found that an alarming amount of them were about... well, not a lot. Even I found them dry, and hence the notice you'll now find at the top of every page giving you links to the recommended ones that you'll find "possibly interesting".
What these posts have in common are that it's not some randomness about how many cornflakes I had for breakfast, or that the swimming pool was slightly less chlorinated during last week's earthquake. Blogs with those type of posts have their own audiences, and they can keep them for all I care. Instead it's the topical stuff about local and global events...
"So how about these Wellington/Christchurch/Japan earthquakes?"unusual websites of interest...
"So the other day I was trying to figure out how to cut and eat a mango, it turns out there's a website for that!"videos...
"...it's 'The X Factor', apparently."music...
"...it seemed that every girl I knew immediately fell in love with One Direction."videos about music...
"Anyone know what happens when you take a music video by Radiohead and mix it with "All the Single Ladies" by Beyoncé?"stuff my family does or says...
"So I have an eight year old stepbrother, and last night he thought the definition of 'impaled' was dying of hypothermia..."games...
"Can someone tell me why everyone on the internet is talking about Skyrim?"and let's not forget the 'random' category...
"squibble banana radish toaster cappuchiiiiiino..."yeah, I dunno...
Those still wondering if that mango website is real, yes it is. Link below.
Anyway you get all that and more delivered with a University-student-living-in-New Zealand perspective for the low low low low cost of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
(did I mention there may be a spot of vague written comedy, too?)
So I hope you can stick around. Posts get scheduled to come out at 9 o'clock Monday mornings New Zealand time, just in time to start procrastinating that working week!
Here's your complementary introductory package:
How To Eat A Mango
Quite possibly One Direction's next single...
Radiohead music video meets "All The Single Ladies"...
