And The Results Are In... Part 4

It's actually been a while since I've had some of my assignments handed back; personally I'm pleased with the results, although the amount of red ink on my Japanese essay was a little concerning...

First off, Physics has been a bit of a strain, since realising that the questions asked in college aren't actually the same as the ones you get in online assessments; instead you get asked to create a formula, and you don't get values to use either. But luckily I've been working over the questions with friends and getting about 80% on average, which isn't too bad. Luckily my labs make up for this since I've been getting straight tens, so that'll bump my final mark up. Remember, we're going for A's here - none of this "C's get degrees" stuff I've been hearing around the place! And about a few hours ago I had my mid semester test, which I blew completely out of proportion since it turned out to be slightly easier than I thought it would be. So maybe something in the high 80's or 90's? Who knows. I know I felt a little iffy on some questions, but with time running out to check you usually only have time to trust your gut instict, and definitely try again if the answer is unreasonable.

Onto Maths. Luckily I'm not the only one finding it a bit droll, although obviously I'm not doing too badly against the class, I've scored within the top 25% of the class on both progress tests so far (65-80% range). And there's the ones that have aced them perfectly, not sure if it's the same person, but come on, the questions are progressive so I you find you've written down a number wrong halfway, you've got to redo the whole question. And it's not like we got a reasonable warning, either. But as always there's room for improvement.

Stats. Haha, so far only one project has been handed in, and since most of the stuff was covered in college, you'd think it'd be a doddle, right. Haha, no. Time was spent up to the last minute checking and rechecking mine and my friends answers to insured they included the right information. But with that all covered, I'm hoping for a nice high mark.

Japanese. Err... So far I've only recieved one assignment back, with a score of 70-something percent. Not too bad, but for someone that should know how the basic grammar structure works, you'd think I'd do better. But after looking past all the red scrawl, I've come to notice most of the mistakes are noticeable in hindsight, but that's not exactly useful in a final exam. Still, you learn from your mistakes I guess. I think it was more of a rush issue than the previous education, although I find it kind of amusing that after my Year 13 Japanese teacher told us a story about him mistaking a picture of a tadpole for something else that looks similar that I can constantly remember the word for potato rather than tadpole (by the way, it's jya-ga-i-mo; that's potato, not tadpole. Still don't know what it is... hang on. *rummage* Oh, it's o-ta-ma-gya-ku-shi. Well, there we go, so why the flip can I remember potato?). Oh yes, the funny stuff is back, people! It's been a while since I wrote so much on a roll. Great to be back.

So that's my recent assignment results. And now for the local news.

  • Our team lost volleyball again (so that's 1 for 4, oh dear). Although it was close...
  • I am now wearing glasses. Funny thing was that when I first stepped out of the optometrist giving them a test run, I felt slightly shorter for some reason and realised I was lifting my feet rather high to take a step. I can only imagine what the other pedestrains were thinking...
  • Sorry, no comic today. It should be appearing around about here, but due to my Japanese speaking assignment being due and my Physics exam occuring on the same day I was a little taken up. Although I did do a rough draft for an idea. Possibly get that out on Sunday. And speaking of which...
  • I'll be going home on Good Friday over a week or so of the mid-semester break. So after Sunday's post I've decided to give myself a break for a week and come back the following Wednesday, when I'll either be back on campus or about to leave for campus.
And that's it for news.
