...Aaaand we're back!Funny how everything tends to happen when you take a break. Yes, I realise I never advertised a short summer break (yes, it's summer here, for all you north-hemispher-ians), but aren't we all entitled to one? I mean, who reads this blog anyway? Oh wait... you're reading it now. Right...
In this post: A lesson in event planning, New Year's resolutions, and more of the internet in bite-sized pieces.
Right, so first off... the report from the event I hosted at the start of the month, "The Run". Well, the report is... that... it... never... happened. In a big twist ending that resulted in myself learning a little bit more in the event planning department, The Run 4 was ultimately postponed, but not cancelled. It short, due to lack of interest/people not knowing that this blog exists, the idea was put on the back bench.
BUT! If you have only found out about this event now, do not despair. I really want this scavenger hunt to go forth, so at this present moment I have pencilled in a date around Easter in order to attempt to hold it again. The details stay the same, although I am currently not accepting registration until I decide on an actual date. You can get some basic information about the event at the original post here, and when registration re-opens I'll be sure to submit a post on this blog. If you don't want to miss the opportunity, well there's a reason for you to subscribe to the RSS feed!
Now how are those New Year's resolutions coming along? Good? Not so good? Dropped after two weeks? Well, you're not alone... according to research taken in 2007, 88% of all new years resolutions are deemed to fail, according to the Wall Street Journal. Furthermore, at the start of the year, 52% were confident of success! Obviously something goes amiss during the year.
For those that are struggling... Quirkology suggests to make your resolution public; share your benefits with other people! And make sure you're actively goal setting... none of this 'rough estimate', 'roundabout' attitude. Yes Kiwis, I'm taking to you...
My personal resolution is to keep a small journal, logging simple-yet-trivial things like when I wake up and go to sleep, what I dreamt about the previous night, and also whenever anyone says something so hilarious it's worth documenting. Right, so my resolution is public now, the rest of the year should be a piece of cake! Best of luck.
And now this...
From the depths of the internet we bring you these...
Great news for those born in the 90's, Disney Channel has released an extension to their web player that allows you to watch full episodes of older shows like That's So Raven and Kim Possible. So for the classic-ness, go to disneychannel.co.nz, find the web player, and select the 'Rewind' category.
And who else but a supermarket could pass up the opportunity to sell products using the viral phrase 'nek minnit'? This comes from Radio Live...
And in the audiovisual department, a suggested video. It's been going around a lot recently, and documents one man, known as Matt, dancing his way around the world.
Next... if you couldn't possibly imagine an LMFAO song being read dramatically in poetic fashion... you're wrong! I'd like to know if the reader actually realised he was reading the lyrics to a U.S. #1.
But if you only have twelve seconds to spare, take a quick look at this next clip of a quite astounding catch by a ball-boy at the Australian Open.
That's it from me, hope you had a great January! I'm back at university next week, see you then.
