Yeah, so heaps of students around NZ are getting their results now, to be honest I felt a little embarrassed since I felt a whole lot confident that I would be getting better marks than the ones I have. No matter, I still managed to get a steady Merit-ish average, the only N's I got were in Chemistry but that was my worst subject anyway. Not the teavher's fault, I guess I just couldn't click enough. I did pass some of those papers though...
So if you're wondering why this post was late, it's 'cause I got a new laptop. Woot. Funny, I thought I'd be a bit more excited. Nah, but it looks really nice, and a really neat feature about the Asus is that the laptop's temperature is "25%* lower than body temperature"! Seriously, if you touch the laptop it feels cold! Plus thanks to my job, it was realtively free. I mean, that's basically what my wages were for...
Student allowance done... great to see the Government giving me practically 75% of my weekly accomodation cost. Next step is to grab a 1-2 day a week job at Harvey Norman in Palmy.
And now, stuff that happened more recently. And I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that it's not very often that you have to put up with your Dad driving you to the train station in a dressing gown. It was that or no ride, mind you - it was Saturday morning and getting to work on time required Dad to drive me to the station at half past 7, when he probably went to bed at midnight.
But, uh... to thank him for it I helped out a little in the backyard. Basically the hedge that 'swallowed' 11.5 balls had been given an extreme hair cut (i.e. there's only a stump left), and the trimmings had to be fed through a mulcher. And with a little 'encouragement' from Jennie, I went outside after waking up to a 25 degree (77 for those still stuck in the past with imperials) heatwave in the house 10 minutes earlier. So now we have a much bigger section space, all ready to sub divide. Problem is, I've lived in this house for about 88% of my life (did the math), and to tell you the truth I'm not entirely ready to move just yet. I mean sure, I've got to go off to University and board there this year, but I guess too many things have happened here to make it significant.
Not to be pessimistic or anything, but personally I like Winter over Summer. Sure, I don't mind going swimming or anything, but (trying hard not to sound to pompous or self-concious) I prefer it to be in a personal swimming pool. I guess I'm not too confident about my figure? Wait, did that sound anorexic? Scratch that. That and the heat. Sure you can add layers if you're feeling too cold, but it's not like you can subtract layers (LOSE THE IMAGE, KYLE!) in the Summer. And It's not like it snows down here on the beach, but I kinda like the magical-ness of snow. Pure... soft... quiet... *ahem*. I guess the whole living-by-the-beach senario doesn't help too much, but hey... Spring and Autumn are fine!
Prince William is in Kapiti! Sources (i.e. my sister) tell me that there were big crowds on the beach as the visiting prince took a trip to Kapiti Island. For more on this story, try the news at 6. Unless they haven't got it online yet. But if you need proof, I can try and get a picture of my sister's cellphone (on request).
But now, it's been another 10 posts, so let's clear the way for...
The Final Section - Double Features!
Today's post felt a little random in terms of content, so to *ahem* 'celebrate', here's a collection of 'random' things I came across.
What I've Stumbled Upon: Ever wondered what the Garfield comics would be like without Garfield? To be honest, it makes Jon Arbuckle look a lot more depressed and sadistic. Find out more here.
And going up a few notches in the randomness scale, this website is one to keep bookmarked. If you're ever in need of one of those often-called-upon sound effects, this is the site to use.
What I'm Watching: First up on our randomness tour, two guys have put together a 'rap' about 2010, but chances are they wrote it on the spot, since practically none of the lyrics rhyme. Really funny or really stupid? It's your call.
And for something a little more serious but not really, here is a spoof of a scene from 2009 thriller "The Box" starring Cameron Diaz. The spoof doesn't feature her, but I think it's pretty darn funny.

'People often tell me; "Mr. Sinclair you just gotta heart of stone; don't you want to share with your fellow man?" And I tell 'em listen; I hail from sunny Panama and my grandaddy; he got himself drown building the big ditch, went on and on about doing for the people, for the world entire, well not for me, thank you. I came to Georgia to strike it rich, and Rapture all the more so. You won't catch me blowing my last bubble for any other personage; plural or singular.' -Augustus Sinclair
