Luck of the Irish Conspiracists

Ooh! Ooh! This post has three ones for the post number! And he mentioned 2012 in the previous posts! That must mean he works for the secret society of...

No. Just... no.

My Thoughts On... Conspiracies and Conspiracy Theorists
Is it ironic that I'm listening to "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel?

First of all, I would like to say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Heck, that's part of the reason why I stated this blog. But in this section, I may slightly go off kilter in terms of bias, so I'll apologise in advance if something does offend. We don't want a repeat of what happened back in October.

"...world will end..."
"...was an inside job..."
"...is secretly controlling..."

Those are just a few lines I heard while searching YouTube for a new topic to talk about during mid-March. And by golly I think I found one.

Conspiracies... there's always one person in a crowd that challenges the public opinion, and why shouldn't they? It's not a rule that they have to conform... but it's when they start saying implosive words like facts, guarantee, and certain when I start to lose it.

I'd personally like to know what these guys get out of this... the fact that they can say, "I told you so" if they just so happen to be right? To spark fear in the general public? To drive traffic to your site? Ooh! Hmm...

Now that we have the internet, this is possible. There is so much information out there, it's hard to tell if something is indeed true or not. Consider it even, a game of 'Chinese Whispers'. With each turn a statement is told, is get blurred even further.

And unfortunately the paranoia set in when I googled March 15, 2011 last week. All this stuff about pole shifts and that. Scary stuff. Yet we're still here. Hmmm...

The question I want to ask is why. Why are people so intent in coming up with this stuff and sticking by it? Heck, the 'big' March 15 pole shift has been shifted back to the 19th, 21st... it's not happening! Can't you admit that you are wrong?

Maybe it's just me thinking that the world is perfect. It isn't. But there is no way that you can claim that some sort of backroom deal is going on by speculation. Are you part of it? Maybe we should speculate that the speculators are speculating to keep us away from something else. Like a double cross.

Long story short - I am not researching future dates again.

In other news:
Went to Burgerfuel for the first time on Sunday. Delicious.
Aioli is nice on chips. Also delicious.
I woke up super early two days in a row expecting a fire drill that didn't happen. Not delicious, but funny.
Saint Patrick's Day.

Ah yes, good ol' St. Paddy. It's not even a holiday... why did I tag that?
*ahem* Anyway... yet another night where students go into town and have alcohol for breakfast then (apparently) try to go into lectures.
What I found rather amusing was that there was supposed to be a 'wear black' day on campus to support the 'stop family violence' cause, but that coincided with St. Patrick's, so you had people wearing black, people wearing green, and people that didn't care. It was a funny, unco-ordinated mess. Enough for the week.

The Last Word
The latest sensation? Racking up 25 million views in a month, all YouTube eyes are on Rebecca Black, and her Music Video, "Friday". So the question is, it is good? So far the interent is undecided, some are calling her the new Justin Bieber (wasn't that the same for Cody Simpson?), and some don't have anything pleasant to say. Personally, I find the lyrics a little lackluster... and the melody sounds a little monotonous. But don't let me put you off... watch it yourself.

It's been a while since I covered a game, so here's one; Knoword, a great way to test your vocabulary skills. It gives you a definition and the first letter of a word, and all you have to do is come up with the rest of the word. Sounds easy? Ok then, sixty seconds, go!
