2012 Holiday Specials: My Christmas Misadventure

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, everyone!

Now that the presents are being unwrapped, I figured I'd continue on from yesterday about what happened this year with me and my shopping 'ordeal', since it involves one of the presents that was meant to be saved as a surprise.

So about a week ago now, I thought it would be a good idea to get Dad and Jennie Mrs Brown's Boys on DVD, after seeing them in a sale catalogue from a local book store.
Brilliant! I thought, snapping up the DVDs for both seasons, and well as another family favourite, Miranda, seasons one and two.

Four days later, around the time you've had enough of the same Christmas music as last year piping though the mall... you know what I mean... it might me Cliff Richard singing "Mistletoe and Wine" but by now all the carols have smushed together and all you can hear is:
♪ On the first day of Santa, Rudolph gave me jingle bells on an open fire... ♪
...something like that.

So anyway I went back to the same store for gift buying/consideration cycle #3 (see yesterday), and found that the boxed set of Mrs Brown's Boys had just come in. Oh, how I kicked myself, the one time I'd bought presents early...

It wasn't good news, because of the nature of DVD sales the ones I'd bought weren't returnable, even though I hadn't even opened them, let alone taken them out of the shopping bag at home!

But they were cheaper overall and contained the sought-after Christmas episode. I put one on hold for the next day and went home to think about it.

The next day, after fighting my way through three separate performing groups trying to cram more Christmas down me I made it back to the book store and got the boxed set.

This just leaves the two other DVDs I bought earlier. As said before, I can't return them... but they are perfect if anyone wants them on TradeMe! I'll put the link here when the auction is all set up.

Really our Christmas season started on the 23rd with the inaugural event known as 'Finnmas'; since my step brother isn't here today we had a separate gift-giving morning and dinner; Funky Chicken Tortillas (that's basically tortillas with breadcrumb-and-spice coated chicken, not related to Funky Snap, a very fun game that I need to put on here at some stage).

Anyway, as much as I enjoy typing blog posts out, I should be enjoying this summer weather.

Hope you've enjoyed tracking Santa on Google, see you tomorrow with my "Quest for the Tablet"!
