3½ Days of Contrast

So rather embarrassingly, the last post I did resulted in me actually losing a subscriber. So this tells me to try and make my life sounds less depressing. Let's attempt to put some positive spin on the last few days.

Let's start with Monday. Luckily I'm not getting Mondayitis as much this semester, since my first lecture now starts after lunch. That morning I had set aside some time to take my external hard drive (which had suddenly become unresponsive during the weekend) to Noel Leeming to get it checked. Unfortunately it was deemed faulty, and in order to get the data back I needed to try a computer fix-it place on the edge of town. Thank goodness for free and relatively frequent buses. I handed it in, and left it at that for the day. Although I had to get back to the main centre of town again, since I needed to get back for Lunch and my lectures. And since the next bus wasn't coming for some time, I ended up walking about 2.5 Km in about half an hour or so. Not that I have anything against that - I grabbed McDonalds to go and got the bus back in time for me to get my books and get to class. That evening was the first match of Ultimate Frisbee, although really it wasn't a match since the other team never showed up. But we got a chance to practice anyway, and our team might actually have a chance at winning something this semester.

Tuesday was different to Monday in the sense that I started at the usual time. I had my first Computer Science Fundamentals lab that morning, and the task was to code a particular function using the hints given; which seemed simple enough, although 60 minutes ticks by fast when the program doesn't work like its supposed to. We couldn't stay late, since we had a Communication workshop straight afterwards. To be honest the room was a bit small, by which I mean it was so cramped a few students could have been considered fire hazards. The afternoon went smoothly, and in the evening our hall, along with some others, had our formal dinner. The only major differences to regular dinners was that they had tablecloths, guest speakers and a band, proper glasses (as opposed to those generic glass mugs you find in communal kitchens), and self-service. Things that stayed the same included having limited choices for dinner, even less for dessert, and the water-juice ratio of the *ahem* 'juice'. But in all it was a nice event despite our hall picking one of the worst possible tables to sit at.

Wednesday was a surprise. Although the unsurprising thing was that I had the whole day free, but I got a surprise text from our family friend, Jo, and ended up coming up for lunch. And due to a slight logistics backfire, a set of clean sheets got driven around town. Wednesday evening was a designated barbecue and games evening, and due to a game of Cranium taking longer than originally expected, I quickly skipped through a 50-word summary assignment and went to bed, resulting in the post today.

Plus I am generally happy since this morning I managed to get out of bed for an 8 o'clock lecture, despite the late night.

But I'll admit that I went back to sleep for a couple of hours later.
