That's right, it's the first of September, the start of spring, the start of the end of the start of university (try getting that one around your head!).
But I figured that now I'm back, I may as well tell everyone what I've been up to the past week and a bit.
I've been staying back at home, sleeping for the major part of each day. Unfortunately my brain immediately registers that it's a holiday and therefore assumes I don't have anything to do, prompting the wake up process to take place around lunchtime. But at least I kinda dodged the early morning school rush. It was a painful process getting ready for college many years ago... now it's really just a matter of walking out the door ready to remember stuff the lecturer says and not showing that you really don't want to be there.
But with all that sleeping, I did do some things. For starters, I managed to complete a 100-level programming assignment from scratch (with some nudges) in around 72 hours; I'm quite proud that I can understand C# and think of solutions quickly. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for my other (200-level) programming course, where I only managed to complete 70% of my assignment.
Then came the super-early Christmas job hunt. For those that haven't read posts from last year, I was working at Harvey Norman in Porirua over the last Christmas/New Year break, and although it was better than no job at all, the commute each day was a bit harrowing. So, this year I have been suggested to try some of the places around Coastlands (my town's local shopping mall) and get in quick to try for a holiday position. Not that Harvey Norman in Porirua is out of the question... according to Jennie it's "Plan Z".
My Dad has also been getting asked where they can find a website for his cake decorating business. There have been discussions previously, but hopefully by the start of the new year I'll have a website for him, and of course it's by $1.20 Design... I'd be happy to share the link here.
At the moment the advertising scheme works on a word-of-mouth basis... so if you've already had a cake made by my Dad, spread the word!
Got a haircut, dental appointment, blah blah blah...
And in sports... my 18-month bowling average has increased to 110, which now puts me ahead of the rest of the family. Hooray.
We now go to the weather. It's been relatively sunny back home. But upon saying that, I realised that it has been raining, luckily whenever it did I was actually inside at the time. So I stayed dry the whole time. Nice.
Coming up this month I have two each of Japanese and Communication assignments, one of which is due in 5 days... so I'd better get on to that.
Also coming up this month on this blog I have another installment of my preview of the novel project (all the new facebook readers are probably thinking, "wtf???"), plus more things not to do at university, another $1.20 production video's online premiere, a couple more installments of the day 14 cartoons, more rants, more 'useful' websites, more YouTube links, plus this blog is turning one already, and will celebrate 100 posts sometime soon too! How about that.
Let's get back to the regulars. It's Wednesday, so it's time for...
The Mid-Week Website
Wallbase - A doozy of a website that originally got shown to me by Steve, this site trawls the wallpaper-creating forums of 4chan and grabs all the submitted wallpapers, and sorts them neatly so you can grab them and use them yourself! Plus you can search for a specific screen size too, so if you're one of those people with a widescreen laptop (like myself), you can still find good-quality pictures to use without the need for stretching. And yes, it uses stuff from 4chan, so as a very handy feature, the site also allows you to filter the results to leave you with the pictures safe for the kids. Click here.
Thanks for reading. Spread the word!
