I think I may be abusing my lecture-free time. Since I'm sure that checking every status update to the unfolding of the latest Pokemon game installment in Japan (the National Pokedex is now at an astounding total of 649, by the way) isn't counted as research towards the comparison of New Zealand specific search engines, I've decided to move to drastic measures and unplug my LAN cable, effectively disconnecting me from the internet.
(insert dramatic, 'dun dun duuuun' here)
That was on Monday. And it lasted two hours.
Isn't it intriguing how much of our lives revolve around functioning communications? Take the campus-wide power cut from a few weeks back for example. Considering my major of Computer Science, it's rather crucial that we have electricity to continue working. Otherwise you end up with a tutorial session in a dark, powerless computer lab full of undergrad students trying deperately to initiate an unawkward conversation. And it isn't pretty.
I guess I don't like doing assignments at all really, since for the last month the majority of my workload has pretty much been pushed back as far as possible before a last minute, almost-all-nighter to either finish it off, or start from the beginning then finish it off. Like the tortoise and the hare, but the hare still wins anyway.
And speaking of which... we've had multiple people reporting sightings of ducklings and rabbits, and by people I mean myself, and by reporting I mean stating, and by sightings I mean grabbing the camera and taking a picture.
I've heard a few things around campus recently - Chris Brown's new single, Yeah 3X (which was apparently supposed to be secret or something but apparently still obtainable for one of the guys down my hallway); "OH MY GOD LOOK AT THE FLUFFY DUCKS!!!"; the line-up for the Big Day Out 2011; and finally, "Hey, aren't you that guy from that quiz night?".
Ok, so I haven't heard the last one that much, but still... at least some people haven't forgotten! Not entirely sure how far further up the campus social heirachy that puts me yet... but for now I'm happy some people are saying hi when I walk past. It's basically college all over again! This is great!
I should really wrap this post up now, considering it's almost midnight and I still haven't packed my bag yet.
Oh, you didn't hear? I'm going home for the weekend. Considering it's been one week since my family moved into the new house just down the road from the old one, I thought it might be a good idea to drop in for a visit, go for a swim, and check up on how the script is coming along for a mini-series project $1.20 Productions might be picking up during Summer. Details to come.
That and I have an interview for a possible holiday job this year.

Urban Fonts - A common misconception with the graphic design community is that clients have too many font styles to choose from. This is incorrect. You can never have too many fonts. But for those that make stuff for free or just for fun, finding the right font to suit a situation can be more difficult than at first thought. Luckily this site lists thousands of fonts, available for download, for free!
