RA camp was nice. And I didn't even miss the cellphone reception! The 3 days were pretty much policy and team building, but presented in an amusing way, of course! Oh, and a talent show. You can't forget the talent show.
Senario role play was the highlight of the all-day (and by all day I literally mean all day, as in 7 to 5, with breaks) sessions; essentially we got split up into groups of six or so and went through a possible situation we'd come across if we were on duty, and perform it the 'impulsive' way, followed by the correct way. These skits resulted in humorous results, such as Ali becoming known as the "taxi driver", and the exclusive relationship of Ryan and Willy. Amongst all the senario re-enacting I got to actually try and remember my fellow RA's names, although the girls that start with A still throw me off a bit...
Training is still going ahead this week, and in the meantime me and my partner Emma are hoping more people arrive early this week. Even though it's been proven the hall isn't haunted being a single person in the hall isn't enough to get to sleep. Apparently.
Valentines Day. Yet again. I suppose I'm getting a bit more cynical about this holiday, because at the moment it seems like the transistion from college to univeristy equates to the tranisition of celebration from 'everyone' to 'couples only'. You get the point. Possibly.
Actually thanks to popular media, it seems that even the most technologically-dependant of us can still send cards and that tailored to our interests (providing that your significant other shares the same interests as you!). Now, you can easily find messages such as "You complete me" coupled with a picture of a Tetris scene or similar. Of course for us shy types finding someone else to share it with is a harder step.
Secret Statistics
In a brand new segment that I'm hoping will actually take off, each week (or whenever I remember) I update you with a number I've been counting since the start of the year. Naturally it's the public's turn to guess what on earth I'm counting.
This week the counter stands at 3.
Some help:
- 1 was while I was sitting on a bench inside Costlands in January.
- 2 was while I was selling printer cartridges at Harvey Norman, also in January.
- 3 was while I was shopping for $5 gifts for my hall residents at the Warehouse yesterday.
We'll keep this a secret 'til someone guesses or I get tired of it. I welcome any guesses in the comments section, or if it's a slow week I may answer questions. Good luck! (Wait, shouldn't I offer a prize or something?...)
The Last Word
This weeks video comes to us from Volkswagen, something about Star Wars for kids in 2012?...
And finally, this weeks website features some neatly designed brain challenges that you can brag to your friends about all over Facebook, brought to you by Cambridge Brain Sciences. Click here.

Cheer up louis it isn't the end of the world. Having a valentine as such isn't all that important it's just a date so that couples can show off how ... couple-y they are. Your in university for pities sake and there's only one way to cure shyness yano and thats facing it. So if you want a girl then find one and go get her.
Cool comments Rico. Go and be bold, brave and the marvellous guy you are Louis - but in public this time :-)
