Hey look at that... 150 posts. That's like, one every eight days! Lovely.
Anyway. Today is Boxing Day here in New Zealand, and true to the day's name, there's bound to be some adults somewhere fighting over the last heavily-reduced-in-price laptop. Reminds be of all those Black [Eye] Friday shopping stories I keep hearing about in the U.S.

2012 Holiday Specials: My Christmas Misadventure
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, everyone!
Now that the presents are being unwrapped, I figured I'd continue on from yesterday about what happened this year with me and my shopping 'ordeal', since it involves one of the presents that was meant to be saved as a surprise.

2012 Holiday Specials: Last Minute Christmas
It's Christmas Eve!
Yes, it's been a long wait, but per usual we save the best holidays until last, and just like that it's next year all over again.

2012 Holiday Specials: Internet Real Estate
So I don't know if you know about this thing called 'squatting'; that is, using someone's unoccupied house without their permission while they are away for long periods of time. It's an issue that's popped up a few times around New Zealand, most recently with that million dollar Wellington house back in November. Providing there is proof that the occupant broke in, it's a pretty simple case.
In terms of the internet real estate world however, it's a different story.

2012 Holiday Specials: After Newtown
Oh what a dark dark day it was, on the 14th of December, 2012.
I probably don't need to go back into detail about the Sandy Hook shooting, since you can probably find most of the news coverage online anyway. The angle, which I think most journalists are now picking up on, is "Will this change the gun laws in the United States?".

2012 Holiday Specials: The 187th End of the World
Ok, before we begin today I'd like to make a correction to a previous blog post, in which I referred to Harold Camping incorrect Judgement Day prediction in 2011 as the 30th end of the world. That number has dramatically increased over the last year and a bit, and according to the one and only "free encyclopaedia that anyone can edit", that is now incorrect prediction #181.
The whole admiration of the 2012... thing must've got a whole lot of people intrigued about doomsdays if they managed to find another 150 of them!
So this could in essence be the last of my posts, and such a bummer... just when I got a full head of steam and my typing fingers ready, the world decides to go and end.
Uhh... no.
And here's why.

Week 1000-and-something: So here's the thing...
Hello everybody. I realise it's been a while since I've ventured close enough to Blogger to type something meaningful, and so with the world not ending tomorrow, I figured now would be the perfect time to step back in the spotlight.
Now that I think about it, it hasn't been a spotlight but more like one of those flickering bulbs that you want to replace, but haven't yet because it needs to be ordered in specially from Sweden or some place. Now back to the show!

Presenting...
The 4th-or-somethingth revival of this blog...
a.k.a. My attempt at getting famous on the internet
Ta dah!
Ok, ok, I know it's just the old logo with a half-rushed MSPaint job... but it sucks not being able to use my laptop, and we'll get to that soon... but that's the logo I'm going with for the time being, and when I get the chance I'll come up with something better. Good? Good.

Week 1048 - Developing Development Developments
Hello again to everybody! There have certainly been a few interesting developments in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to remember all of them as I continue typing hastily, but not too quickly as I tend to make morr spelning mistaks whenn I do.

Week 1046 - YouTube Showcase Edition
Isn't YouTube wonderful? Ever since its inception on Valentine's Day, 2005, loads of content has been uploaded to this household-name video sharing site. There's the people doing amazing things, people hurting themselves doing amazing things, kids and animals doing amazingly cute things, and people commenting on people hurting themselves doing amazing things and kids and animals doing amazingly cute things. Did you follow that? It's basically an episode of America's Funniest Home Videos. Well there's also TV Shows, film trailers, advertisements from around the world... just think of anything you could watch and it's probably on there. What I'm trying to say is that in the wealth of endless entertainment it's getting harder to find the odd video that isn't shoved in your face - that is, most videos people watch are the stuff that gets reported in the news for getting X million hits, like Justin Bieber's Baby, or Rebecca Black's Friday, or PSY's Gangnam Style...So as a recurring item in this blog I've been showing a few videos that aren't as popular (probably to spark some interest and get some credibility as a YouTube video recommender), but now there's a bit of a backlog to catch up on, so here's a post to clear the list. And for those that don't just want videos, I've still got bits of written stuff about things in here too. Hope you enjoy.

Week 1045 - Two Decades Down
For those astute ones out there, you may have realised that it's been two weeks instead of the usual one since the last post. That happens here sometimes. Hence why the top of the site says "Updated Thursday or whenever". Also, I kinda just forgot to finish the post on time. But here's what I would have wrote about last week:
So I don't know if anyone realised, but the Olympics were over the last two weeks. Thought I'd just give a quick passing mention in case someone didn't notice...
Oh, also my birthday.
In this week's edition: "Who won all of the Olympics?", A second set of ten years - a brief retrospective, and What I'm Listening to.

Week 1043 - Better than Facebook?
"Blasphemy!" I hear you shout. "Do not judge the almighty book of face! I bequeath thee... and thou shalt hath were'est shan middly middly moo moo..."
Umm so anyway... what's the deal with social media nowadays? Join me as I take as little of a journalistic approach as possible and investigate. I have no budget and one blog post... this'll be interesting.
This week: Other social media you may (or definitely) don't know about, learning a language for free, and music videos you probably can't take seriously.

Week 1042 - Not drunk and not disorderly
It's amazing, the things you can come up with when joking around with friends. As I've mentioned to quite a few people, I tend to come up with interesting ideas, though most of the time they're not entirely practical.
So anyway... Over the last weekend a few of us got away from the hubbub of what turned out to be quite a rowdy night for the Residential Advisors here, and took a non-school-work Saturday away and booked a hotel room in town.
*insert unessential sniggering from some residents*
This week: University students stick out like a sore thumb at Himatangi Beach, An impractical way to tell if someone's drunk, ukuleles, and Glee: Illinois Edition.

Week 1041 - Welcome back to my life, again
Hello, internet. Been a while. Per usual, my absence has probably gone unnoticed to everyone except some ISP in Germany that seems to be routing all the link bots through to this blog, and although its pushing the hit count up it's ultimately pointless.
In short, I've only had automated computers come and visit and wonder where I went. Glad to know I was missed. Ha ha.

26,753 Days
Hello, all. It's certainly been a fair few Mondays since this blog has seen a click of my mouse on the "new post" button. However, unlike past hiatuses... hiatusies? hiatusii? It's not been due to me forgetting. Ok, so maybe it was to start with, but unfortunately I have some news.

Day 481
And in keeping with the previous two years, no I haven't lost count of how long I've stayed here at Massey. Did I mention I've moved back in?
In this post: I move back into university, my role as a residential advisor, and more of the internet in bite-sized pieces.

Sound Bites
Hey everyone, I'm back at university! Ha! Not really... well, actually I am, but not physically there... It's complicated.
So anyway this week with so much possibly happening in the music industry lately (I'm not really sure, I don't keep tabs on it), I thought it might be time to feature a few bits of news about... well, the music industry. So start untangling the earphones that you only put in your pocket two seconds ago because this one has sound, and plenty of it.

It's Just January
...Aaaand we're back!Funny how everything tends to happen when you take a break. Yes, I realise I never advertised a short summer break (yes, it's summer here, for all you north-hemispher-ians), but aren't we all entitled to one? I mean, who reads this blog anyway? Oh wait... you're reading it now. Right...
